"City-bot Attendants: Down At Maccadam's"

Prints available!

This goes out to Mike "Quag Prime" Myers, a dear friend who passed away in November 2010. He was one of the most genuinely good-natured and funny people I've ever known, and he got me started selling art at conventions by lending space on his dealer-table. He always loved my work, and I think he'd really get a kick out of this piece.

The Transformer city-bot toys came with smaller robots who generally got short shrift, fiction-wise. (After all, the big toys sell themselves; why bother advertising the little guys?) I figure this sentiment would have an echo within the world of the fiction, too: forgotten grunts literally overshadowed by their gigantic charges. Who else would understand them but each other, and where else could they commiserate but at Maccadam's Old Oil House, where allegiances are left at the door?

Around the table are Full-Tilt, Brunt, Cog, Fasttrack (you can just see his hand and the back of his head), and Scamper. In the midground is Six-Gun, with Wipe-Out braced for a party foul. And in the back the bartender looks on while Slammer chats up Nightracer (who has nothing to do with city-bots, but I wanted a female Decepticon in there, and beggars can't be choosers). In Japan, several of those toys were recolored as new characters, but the picture was crowded enough as it was, so I limited it to the American sphere.

...Wait, how are any of them drinking?

UPDATE: Holy crap Daily Deviation!

Thank you so much to JZLobo and TommyGK for making this happen! And thank you to all the Deviants who've been commenting on and favoriting my work this whole time; the feeling that I'm contributing to a community is half the reason I do the art at all.

I'm going to quote Mike's uncanny final Facebook post: "Are you really thankfull, or just glad? Thankfullness involves gratitude to a person. More often than not these days, when someone says they're thankfull they just mean 'I'm glad (or happy) that...' Think about it and choose your words carefully.Thank you!"
